K¹² Stars

You know whom I love? Stars! Not so much the Hollywood type of stars; I’m talking about the K¹² type! K¹² Stars are an amazing group of parents who have been educating their children using the K¹² option and have become experts at both helping other learning coaches and spreading the word about virtual education to parents looking for a better way to help their kids succeed.

Recently, though, I got an opportunity to walk in both “Star worlds”—the Hollywood and K¹² variety—when I attended the first annual EdVant education conference in Los Angeles. The conferences we attend are valuable ways for us at K¹²’s iCademy to learn about the latest-and-greatest advances being made in the field of education, instructional techniques and online learning. While they are usually a lot of work—with long days spent running around trying to soak up as much information as possible—they can also be a great way to connect with K¹² Learning Coaches who sometimes staff our event booths in order to share their stories with other parents. And this particular conference happened to coincide with the Emmy Awards taking place nearby!

We were all wishing that we could get an “inside peek” at the famed red carpet, but security, as you can imagine, is exceptionally tight at these events. Well, here is what I love about K¹² parents—they are not afraid to be social! K¹² Star Christina Howard was doing some networking at our hotel and made a fantastic contact–the head of security at the Emmy’s!

A little K¹² Star charm later, we were all invited to take a tour of the Emmy Awards venue—AND walk the red carpet! Our personal guide escorted us around the venue, explained how the event unfolds (it’s amazing how much work goes into it!) and even snapped a few pics for us!

I love working with the K¹² Stars. Thanks to them, we all got to feel like stars for a day!
